The non-contact alternative to mechanical tactile sensors

Whether contours or surface roughnesses are to be measured, or freeforms or miniscule interior spaces in process control, RayDex sensors offer a genuine alternative to mechanical tactile systems, particularly in dynamic production processes. The Raydex ca series (“compact”) attains axial penetration depths approaching 50 mm and the RayDex ha series (“heavy duty”) can even reach depths approaching 150 mm.
The RayDex cr and hr models do not have their own air-bearing axis, but are even smaller than those models which do. With external actuation or guide system it is also possible to generate three-dimensional data clouds.
The air bearings for rotation allow a maximum rotational frequency of up to 3 Hz without compromising precision of measurement. Moreover, the sensors can also be positioned at a predetermined angle with great accuracy. All RayDex sensors also have integral focusing with air bearings offering an effective focusing depth of up to 7 mm in order to maximize the signal despite variations in distance.
Applications of RayDex sensors:
- in measurement stations for individual objects in a production environment or in a measurement laboratory
- mounted on a robot, e.g. for measurement of interior spaces
- mounted on a coordinate measuring machine whenever precision and speed are decisive factors
